The Everyday Art of Transcona

Art and design are all around us, even in the most commonplace of everyday things. The Everyday Art of Transcona is a fun exploration of our collections and archives with art, design, colour, texture, and whimsy in mind. After viewing this exhibit, perhaps you will have a new appreciation for the art and design you come across every day.

To commemorate Winnipeg’s 150th anniversary, the Transcona Museum and Transcona BIZ proudly present a captivating photo exhibition celebrating the city's diverse and vibrant neighbourhoods and history. This exhibition features submissions from local photographers and city dwellers alike, each capturing the essence and uniqueness of different neighbourhoods and history that contribute to the rich tapestry that is Winnipeg's identity.

Locomotive CN 2747

CN 2747 is the Transcona Museum's largest artifact.  It was the first steam locomotive built in Western Canada, as well as the first constructed at the CN Transcona Shops in April 1926.  Following its retirement in 1960, CN 2747 was placed on permanent outdoor display in Kiwanis Park (now, Rotary Heritage Park).  The Transcona Museum acquired ownership of CN 2747 in late 2015.  The museum remains dedicated to the ongoing preservation of this historic steam locomotive.

Museum Gift Shop

​The gift shop at the Transcona Museum offers a variety of merchandise and gift options for everyone. All proceeds from any purchase of CN 2747 merchandise support the capital campaign.

​

Museum Members and Canadian Veterans get a 10% discount on select items.

​

The Gift Shop is open during museum visiting hours. There is also the option to shop online. Please note our Gift Shop and online inventories are the same in size and colour options. We attempt to process online orders as soon as they are received. Thank you!

The Transcona Museum is located on ancestral lands, on Treaty One Territory. These lands are the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. Our drinking water is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation. We respect the Treaties made on these territories, acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
